Many have died.
You can’t count the tears I have cried.
All through the night bombs fill the air.
Many try to fall back asleep in despair.
I’ve seen so many tragedies you wouldn’t believe.
Sometimes I wish I could just leave.
I watched my best friend die in poisonous gas
It seems like people are falling by the mass.
Another man I knew got shot to the ground.
I felt like I heard his heart’s one last pound.
If you look over the trench wall bodies fill the floor.
Not even to mention all of the guns and bombs roar.
I signed up for this war when I was just a naive boy.
They made fighting for your country seem to be a joy.
Now after everything I have seen.
Life back at home seems to be nothing but a dream.
.
I never know if I am going to die.
It scares me to see an old friend covered in flies.
I had so much I could have done.
I now don’t know why someone made something as evil as a gun.
For the last week I have been standing in mud and water.
I wish I could go home to see my daughter.
When I look up I see a bomb’s glare.
I sit back down and say another prayer.
